Stupid users will be stupid users.
When one hovers over a link, before one clicks on a link, the URL appears in the status bar or a "QuickTip" pop-up. If the problem is that the URL in the download dialog box is too long to be seen, and you cannot scroll it, then hit cancel and check the web-page that offered the link or the URL on hover.

How long does a URL have to be to become suspicious anyway? If I downloaded something from most vendors website it looks something like this:

https://site03.ftp.download.thevendor.com:3456/product/support/download/getfile.php?productname=thisproduct&item=098473842930-20050124-123005&session=098483482348

Now how do I know that that is or is not legit? I have to know my vendor and if I do not know why someone sent me to a website to do a download but choose to do it anyway then no amount of browser security will keep me safe, eh?

I agree that we should expect more from Fx than IE but I also agree that this is not a major security threat. My end-user is a major security threat.
