Why Bother Replying? Because You KNOW Jeff And I Are Right
You can't sit there and say that Microsoft buying up a spyware company, modifying it so the logo is on it, and then releasing the product to the public isn't wrong. It is. This stunt has been pulled time and time again with Microsoft, they put a band-aid on the problem without actually going in and fixing it, and it's getting reall old.

Yes, in its time IE was a great browser but no more, because Firefox came on the scene and has thoroughly demonstrated itself. Microsoft has turned a blind eye and a deaf ear to the consumer in the way of security and vulnerability and instead has concentrated on giving the users "features", most of which no one hardly ever uses and sacrifices usability and cosmetics for protecting the users from viruses, spyware, adware, and malware. Only when Firefox hit the scene stating it prevented spyware and adware from infecting your system did Microsoft suddenly wake up from its slumber and decide that instead of going back and recoding IE it would just buy up some other company that had a reasonable spyware program, slap the Microsoft logo on it and claim it as their intellectual property.

Firefox IS the cure-all for all my malware, spyware, and adware problems, I've been running it since June of last year and I have NEVER had any infections since then.

MS consumers are sheep because the majority of them are severely misinformed and are easily roped in by the pretty pictures and used-car salesman tactics that Microsoft pulls on its consumers. They are right, most users don't have the intelligence or technical expertise to fathom the reality of the instability of their software or even realize what the risks are. A problem crops up and the users all cry "Fix it Bill, Fix it Bill, we'll pay for the fix no matter what!", not realizing that the problem was Microsoft's all along.

At least those of us that have been around the IT community and have interacted long enough with both the Windows and Linux/Unix environment can stand back and see the merits of both systems.

It's like a drug dealer. Microsoft is the dealer and once one drug screws you up the release another drug to hook you in and keep you going and you will pay whatever it takes to keep you on that drug.

I don't bash Microsoft just because I like to do it, I do it because they are pulling the wool over the consumer's eyes and thinking that by using "OOh-aaah" imagery and music they can fleece potential consumers into purchasing their product.

Let's put it this way:

You buy Windows XP....
You buy Antivirus Software
You buy Antispyware Software
You buy a robust firewall (XP firewall is ok...but not good enough)

So in order to fully protect your XP system aside from not plugging it into a network connection at all, you have to go out and buy three separate products that Microsoft should roll into their system but you have to go outside to purchase because they were too busy making things pretty and not looking at user safety.

Either way you slice it, I'm right.
