I agree
I think all companies who sell operating systems have the moral responsibility to one, make sure their system is as unbreakable as possible, and two, include as many useful repair, maintenance, and prevention utilities as they can provide within the operating system package.

That's why I don't mind that MS includes an html rendering engine within their OS package, because many help files need html rendering. But that is why I do mind that they fully integrate an html rendering engine into their OS package, because that stands in their way of making their system as unbreakable as possible. Same thing goes for the media player.

I was glad when they beefed up security with their XP SP2 update. While it still does not make their system perfect (there was a new SP2 vulnerability reported just this week), at least they are going in the right direction with that, in that they made these improvements to their customers for free. But I was at least mildly irked that only XP customers benefited from these improvements, since Win98 and Win2000 customers paid just as much money for their systems. And I would be more than just mildly irked if ALL customers had to pay extra to protect their systems, especially when MS has the tools at their disposal but stubbornly refuses protect their own product without an additional fee.
