That statement is insulting, elite, eggheaded, geek thinking. "If I know it everyone else who doesn't is stupid".

Blame marketing and manufacturers who dump advanced, sophistacted technology onto the general public.

Routers and networking hardware is the hotest product on the market for computer neophytes.

The guy who has cable access and bought a router because the advertising tells him he can connect all his PCs to the cable modem, doesn't know he just brough a ticking bomb into his home.

It TELLS him in the manual to simply use WINS. So, when he plugs his PC directly into the modem to see if it works, is he really to blame for not knowing the danger? He doesn't know he is now standing in class naked.

That doesn't make him "not in his right mind". It makes him a victim of spoon fed high end technology that is sold like toys, without thought to the harm it could do.

Don't blame the guy who is "sold" something beyond him ... blame the seller who tells him it is "easy" to install.
