Well -- I don't know if that's really a feasible solution (hey -- it took me till earlier this year (2004) to FINALLY get a cell phone!) They are excellent in cases of emergencies ('cause let me tell you -- there is NEVER, and I mean NEVER a pay phone around when you need one, and even when there are, they either don't work or cost an arm and a leg to make a call.) And it's real fun to dig through my pockets on a freezing day, scrunging up enough change to continue my call when the lovely lady's robot-like voice interrupts your call and says "Please deposit [amount] please..." LOL
However, I must say -- I really enjoyed your "list" of things that would happen if everyone DID throw their cell phones away! I guess I've had days where it seems like every one of those things happened...and constantly! So I guess I'm guilty of sharing your feelings on those days.
