This is going to be a problem area for a long time
More and more computer crimes are being prosecuted based solely on "evidence" that consists only of data on a PC. Since a PC connected to the Internet is an inherently unsecure system, it creates an immense problem for both PC owners and prosecutors: did the owner of the PC commit the crime?

In the US, PC repair technicians have been instructed to scan the hard drives of PC sent in for repair and report illegal content to the police. Some ISPs have downloaded management software to customers' PCs to scan for P2P programs and pirated content. At the same time, invasion attempts over the Internet and through trojans, spyware, adware, and other viruses have reached an all-time high.

In the end, the only safe PC is a disconnected PC.
