"The people and the bloodbank that allowed the laptop to be stolen should be held liable for any losses incurred by the innocents."

Whereas I am of the opinion that the thieves should be held liable. Poor security does NOT excuse the thieves behavior. If the clerk at the store leaves a $20 sitting on the counter, does that make it right to take it?

Yes, IT users need to be better educated, but let's not take the finger of blame off of the criminals for one second.
