As a lot would...
I use WinXP on my laptop and office machine, Redhat for my media server/firewall, and a Mac for guests or their kids to toy around on. Simply put, there is always going to be threats to a Windows box, it's just a matter of keeping up on updates, avoiding shady websites, and just being a smart(er) computer operator. Use good judgement, don't download cracked/patched software from the latest fly-by-night "leet warez" site, and be careful as to where you surf. I used to do a lot of hacking/cracking and illicit program downloading/trading. Unfortunately, I got burned by this, and in this day and age, where a lot/most of my financial transactions are done online, I don't need the worry of whether or not that ISO of Photoshop I just downloaded is infected with a trojan or worm. Effectively, I was scared straight. The lure of playing around with a program that monetarily is out of my league is still there, but the possibility of getting something that would allow someone free reign of my bank account/whatever keeps me from doing it. Counterproductive is the word that comes to mind.
