A joke...and it's not MS.
The joke is that there have been only two sensible comments and both of them directed at those who just like flaming anything/anybody. Linux? Give me a break. It's not an opsys for the masses, more like something CP/M diehards would have loved to see many years ago. You can't even put it into the same class as Apple's opsys.

There isn't one single company that doesn't put out patches to fix bugs in exactly the same manner...oh, wait, ALL of those companies have figured out that these MS flamers will gladly pay an annual fee that amounts to little more than buying their products over and over, in order to get bugs fixed; if you don't continue to pay, your stuck with bug filled programs, no support, no updates, nothing. But who gets the heat? The company who provides FREE updates, upgrades and patches for years and who has brought about changes that have, arguably, improved most folks' way of life. The same company that only recently stopped supporting the totally antiquated Win95, but keep supporting equally outdated systems.

Most of the flamers 1) don't use an MS opsys, 2) use one, but know just enough to be able to turn on their systems, 3) act if they were IT analysts, because they can put together a few parts and wow their friends, or 4) don't keep their systems up-to-date (i.e., opsys patches, drivers, et al), run old MS operating systems, knocking the newer/better ones with 0% knowledge of them, blame MS and anyone else's software for "bugs" that don't exist, but whose constant crashes are due entirely to their own screw-ups...the list goes on and on.

ZD tends to bring out the "best" in users by tossing out a senseless tid-bit of inflamatory oratory about MS, slaps on a baudry title, then asks for users' comments. This begs for the flamers to have at it every time. They've been doing it since they began and it was done by some of the independent rags before ZD bought them all up, or buried them.

Would be enjoyable to see intelligent comments posted about articles that are worth commenting on in the first place.

That's my two cents! wink Have at it!!
