I Actually Use...
Zone Alarm Security Suite?, their Antivirus is powered by Computer Associates & has updates every day as well I have ZASS configured to auto-update virus/worm definitions.
I use Ad-aware SE, SpyBot S&D & Spyware Blaster. I also use Mozilla's FireFox? v1.0 browser. I used the FF v1.0 preview without any problems whatsoever.

I haven't had an instance of spyware/adware/malware on my computer in over 3 years!
In ZASS, I have I.E. 6.0 SP2 blocked completely unless I require I.E. for Windows Update.

Pages that don't render properly in FF v1.0, and I'm not talking about pretty backgrounds, banner ads, MM Flash ads. They used to drive me nuts and made my eyes worst!

When I open ZDnet.com, I get a nice plain text to read that can be enlarged by using the keystroke Ctrl + for a larger font or Ctrl - for decrease the font.
The tabbed browsing in FF is incredible for research, etc.

I've also taught a few newbies (friends/family/colleagues) about security, alternative browsers, etc.
They now know NOT to open unknown attachments.
I've also turned them on to Thunderbird Mail, which has sort of the same look & feel of Outlook Express, but is much, much more secure.

Like I've said before to friends, family, colleagues; "I'm 41 now, but when I 1st started on computers when I was in my 20's, I always thought that any OS, browser, mail client, etc. should be secure with all of a person's data speeding through phone wires, cable, etc."

We have extremely good hackers out there, but hackers don't usually do malicious things to a persons' computer. It's the "crackers" and "script kiddies" who want to screw with other peoples' PCs/Laptops. I don't understand the mentality, and I suppose I never will, but with me, security had to come first & foremost, but years ago, just when we were able to access the WWW, I had a feeling there was going to be huge security problems...
I was right! We've been feeling/experiencing the effects for years now!

Merry Christmas & The Best In The New Year!
