Trying to make the connection here
Symmantec is largely a retail consumere sales organization. Many of their tools have an enterprise component, but they compete primarily in the retail space. What corperate tools they have certainly are not as specified or support intensive as the Veritas offerings. It seems to me that these two companies will have to largely be opperated seperately for quite a while until an integration strategy can be developed. This could divert eneergy from both companies making them less competitive in the market place over the next couple of years. From a Storage Management perspective, this looks to be like the HP/Compaq merger where Compaq, pre merger, competed agressively with EMC and HDS. Now they have disappaered from my market for all intents and purposes. Will veritas do the same?
