This is what free software is all about.
This is a really great class project that would not have been possible with proprietary software. It has a number of benefits to all concerned.

1) The students win. They learn how to write better software and how not to create vulnerabilities.

2) The software vendor and original developer win, as their software is proofread and corrected without cost to them.

3) The consumers win as software gets better and better.

4) The school wins as it is provided with free materials for a project.

It just goes on and on. This was truly a great way to train students.
