Short term fix??????
"If Mac or Linux or something else down the road becomes the soup de jour, you can bet that it will be subjected to just as many successful attacks as MS OSs are now."

If Mac and Linux are ever attacked by hackers etc to the extent Microsoft is I will still sleep comfortably with my decision to leave Micorosoft.

My comments are based on a businessman's observation, I am not a tech and while I highly respect techs, I do not want to be one. When I left the Microsoft fold years back it was because of customer service issues. The move was initiated because of the software assurance program MS instituted. As a customer and business owner I EXPECT holes to be fixed when they are found and Micorsoft has been woefully short in performing that duty.

After research on sites such as www.secunia.com, http://isc.sans.org//index.php, news releases and a miriad of forums I found what I suspected, historically speaking Microsoft does not patch the software in a timely fashion and leaves issues open. Yeah I know there is no such thing as a totally secure OS but how quickly the problems are addressed is important. Basic customer service. So I made the move to a Mac/Linux combination. My post yesterday in response to the 4 new patches explains it all. Check the Linux and Mac portions.

Yes there was some heartache in learning new and moving away from some of the business software but as a small shop the transition was not as difficult as I was led to believe. It has been my expirience that I have found a long term solution to my security questions in Mac and Linux that I have for myself proved over and over again for the past four years.
