geez what a lot of technical errors
Nope I am not sixty plus.
I was 8 when I had my first computer, and a few years later, sold my first program.
Microsoft was in existence 6 years before I had my first computer. The first time I saw anything for sale by Microsoft was some years later with their Microsoft Basic for Atari 8 bit computers.
GUIs have been around since the late 1960s (Xerox). I first saw a GUI OS machine for sale in something like 1979 when Apple demoed it's Lisa.

This is complete nonsense: "As far as CPM goes, most CPM machines were converted to DOS when the Z-80 came about. It was the first processor to be able to run both. Or have you forgotten?"

The first CP/M machines used the Intel 8080 and later 8085 CPU. The Z80 is INCAPABLE of running PC-DOS/MS-DOS. You need a 8088/8086+ for that.
Z80 machines ran a variety of OSs, but the most popular was CP/M.

Once again, I bought and sold software before I'd seen the first product from Microsoft. I guess they were selling before that, but their adverts didn't reach me.

Note: a lot of games software had point and click interfaces well before the Mac was launched.
Atari (8bit) DOS was not command line driven, but menu driven.

You assertion that there wasn't a software industry before Microsoft is total rubbish.
