Patches: A Way of Life...
Window, Linux, Mac, Unix, DOS. As differant as these OS's maybe they have one thing in common: patches. We all know that no OS is perfect (as mention) and they can be annoying.

The option on closing your eyes to all security risk is naive. Since all readers of this "TalkBack" have access to the Internet you have the change of someone smarter or more subborn than you sending a virus, using a flaw in the OS of your choice ect.

It is my opinion that it is better to have some form of standard OS usually the latest proved system like XP, X, Mandrake. Most people can't fix the problems themself (like me) so these patches are something you have to do.

Just see if the possible risk is worth the time or downloading (even if you have broadband)
People that have customers and students depending on your server wouldn't want all there private infomation displayed to everyone.

Until the big coporations like Microsoft have the option of having a standard OS that is customize to your exact needs without the flaws being so critical there will always be a market for OS's like Linux and Mac.
