One of the dumbest moves by microsoft ever
Uncle Billy will regret not having revamped IE long ago. Microsoft is giving people just about every excuse in the world to dump IE. You'd think that if they were willing to get dragged into court all over foisting IE into Windows to shut out 3rd party browsers, they'd be at least concerned enough to do something about the IE debacle. But it's yet another testament to their slimy arrogance and warped belief that they will never be taken down.
IMO, this is so dumb because once people get a taste of Firefox they will never go back to IE. So this will be lost customers forever. I recommended FF to a user and when I spoke with him recently he was raving about FF. He said it was so nice not to be bombarded by pop ups, and he thought it was much speedier (which it is of course :-)). Keep in mind this guy barely knows how to operate a mouse, so if FF was able to grab his interest, it really has nowhere to go but up. It is my sincerest hope that Microsoft does nothing with IE until Blowhorn. By then there will be at least 15% marketshare for Mo Firefox.
