- Idiotic statements abound..
- "This indicates most people have still not updated their antivirus, and we believe it's mainly coming from home users, who then spread them to businesses. People should update their antivirus several times a day." <-- how stupid, unrealistic, paranoid, manipulative, and irresponsible of him is that? Only a employee of a anti-virus software would try to infuse such fear within the masses. In reality, its amazing that grandma has an anti-virus program, let alone one which is up-to-date. Furthermore, most of these types of programs update themselves periodically, usually on a daily basis, without user intervention. It is the responsibility of these vendors to inform the public as to the reality of these dangers. Yes, if grandma wants to use her credit cards over the internet this year for her Christmas shopping, it would be prudent for her to have her computer up-to-date. However, most elderly people find themselves hard-pressed to spend money on things which they actually need (like prescription drugs), let alone silly computer programs. Mr. anti-virus consultant: you should go be a lobbyist on capital hill, for Symantec or McAfee or someone like that. Go share your fableous tales of doom with someone who is clueless enough to actually believe you, and wants to know what you're talking about. I've been computing for about 20 years now, haven't (knowingly) had a virus yet, but maybe today is my lucky day.
