But the problem is this.....
If a flaw is discovered by someone other than MS (usually the case), you can bet it won't generally be kept a secret. It will fly through the internet, at the speed of light, and into the hands of many, many potential hackers. In other words, the hackers know about the weakness but you and I won't. Therefore, they have every opportunity to hack our computers while Microsoft screws around with yet another service pack.

We on the other hand, have NO opportunity to try and protect ourselves. If flaws are made public ASAP, we can at least try to defend our systems while waiting for a patch.
