I think mozilla firebird already has something that will work
I think these adds are done with Flash. The first step is to download mozilla firebird. Then install the addblock. Some people publish a great screening list of add sites. You can cut and paste this list into the addblock criteria. I did it and I see no adds at all.

Then install another plugin called flash block or something. This one will replace all flash scripts with a button that allows them to run. If you do not press the button, it does not run.

I do not have the flash blocker installed. I think addblock with the screening list might block some of these flash sites that do adds. I'm not sure, but it works great.
