Not to worry young Jedi
The screen saver is doing what amounts to a ping of the offending website. It is simply asking, "are you on?" Enough queries like this can disable a site, a type of Denial of service attack per se. Most of these spammers use free websites to open shop. The querie acts as a hit on the site counter. Most free websites only allow so much traffic to the site and once that limit is reached.....shutdown by the host. If the website is purchased there usually is a higher limit on the traffic allowed but still the same results if enough hits and bandwidth is used.

As for virus or trojans you would have to view the website via a browser, most likely Internet Explorer.

I think the whole think is a stroke of genius but I'd bet Lycos catches a bunch of flak.
