Interesting point
The issue here at stake about find one flaw fix them all can also be an advantage as you say but when the likes of this flaw is so widespread in the problems ist causes it comes down th the people writing the software who should be reinspecting it.

Granted that you can only sometimes find faults when you use and test something you cannot gaurantee that you will find all the flaws. Surely this type of fault should be identifiable by the developers?

Ms software has got a lot to fix but that is due to the way that their software has been designed (wont rant at this point). But the problem is that their fixes rarely seem to resolve the problem they end up hiding it with a patch. Also the fixes are rarely permanent as we all know. So if they have had so much experience to fix things surely it should taper off?

If you want to see the level of one fault one crippling blow, check this.
