Ah you try to flame... but only blow smoke!

Yes you can create a user account on a Winbox. BUT every single install I have ever seen, from Win 3.1 to WinXP automatically boots the user into Administrator mode. And the average user is not educated enough to realize the difference. Then take into account many of the day to day apps needed by a user, in Windows, require admin level system access.

Now yes the user could simply use Run As to run that application, but these are home users. Do you think they even know about that simple command? Hell I didn't until about 6 months ago!

Linux forces you to create both a root and a user account. Yes you can get around it but Linux will gripe at you every step of the way! Another things is that the day to day applications used by a user DO NOT REQUIRE ROOT Access to run.

And therein is the fundemental flaw with Windows and why Linux by default is more secure than Windows.

That is not to say you cannot lock a Winbox down, but as you do you lose a lot of functionallity in the process, more than a Linux box.

And yes I use both, as well as dabble with FreeBSD and BeOS. I have to clean up the mess that is Windows on a regular basis, because of it's bad design. But I am not complaining, it's more money in my pocket. And yes I train the users for whom I perform these repairs, but they still manage to bork their systems because they get tired of using the Run As command to just use their stupid PC.
