"If you have misconfigured your Windows box to let you log in as administrator,"

I didn't "misconfigure" it. That would be the network monkey where I used to work--the same moron who wouldn't let me use my Mac on "his" network.

When I first started working there, I couldn't save preferences in any of the programs I used, I couldn't set up DSNs for ODBC... I couldn't do a lot of things that you absolutely have to do if you're a developer, and since this guy (let's call him "Mordac") liked to set his own hours, and you never knew if he was hiding out in the NOC or out riding his @#$%^& motorcycle, I could lose half a day waiting for him to come in and change some trivial setting--and half the time he just made things worse. So this was unworkable.

So then Mordac decides to change my user status. This made it possible for me to get all kinds of browser hijackers and other malware just by visiting sites that I had to go to to do my job.

I admit I don't know a lot about Windows, but from the three years of constant headaches it caused me, I'd say I know about as much as I care to. It's just not a workable operating system. It just kills people's productivity.

"you are probably the exact same person who would log in as root on a Linux machine or, at the very least, a user with all possible permissions."

No, I'm not that person. I rarely need to log in to a Unix box as root. I usually log in as an administrative user. And, in Unix at least, there IS a difference between administrative users and root. If Windows doesn't make that distinction, that's probably a big part of the problem.
