- Phishing and the Generation Gap
- It is easy to understand why so many comments focus on people's stupidity and gullibility in responding to phishing and other scams. However, most of us ordinary mortals were never educated about sophisticated scams and pseudo-websites like we see popping up all over. At least 40% of the people targeted are from another, older generation. We have no experience with IT and the dangers lurking on the Net and the sacmmers know this. They may not know how old we are but they know we are out there and that their chances of catching us are better than fooling one of the younger generation. The companies we depend on should be protecting us (as we should be protecting ourselves) far more effectively. Lets not be too critical of the victims, lets focus on the scum who target and cheat the victims.
