That alot of them do it with your "consent". If you read the fine print, which seems to come on everything these days, and be able to understand it (I can't) you essentially agree to alot of it.

Something I started doing whenever possible is to use a nickname or another name and keep track of where you used that name and see if you get junk mail in that name.

It doesn't stop the collection of your info, but at least you will know which companies are sharing your info.
