It's obvious you're a Micro$hill apologist for M$hill ZDNet's deliberate...
... avoidance in this article of ANY use of the words
"Microsoft" and "virus" in tandem That was his point, it's
a valid one, and he made it. ZD is a known Micro$hill -
as are YOU - inasmuch as its editorial policy resembles
nothing so much as a branch office of the M$ PR and
FUD Machine. Could it be because ZD (and CNET and
TechTV) are owned by Paul Allen, founder and large
owner of... Micro$oft? Why, yes! Whatta surprise! Not.

[M$ appears once, in the "$250K bounty" ref at the very
bottom of the graphic. The graphic - if you didn't know
better - almost suggests the M$ bounty is a gesture on
behalf of others, instead of crass PR spin to protect its
own shabby products.]

BUT, noooo, your infantile "rebuttal" to the
"burger-flipper" was the usual spastic Micro$hill spew,
first blaming "sloppy users" but relying on the basically
irrelevant, brain-dead and well-refuted theory of "M$'s
relative hegemony of the desktop is the reason it's hit,
not 'cuz it might have insecure, defective architecture or
sloppy code."

Now, your vain attempt to distract readers with the, "Oh,
don't ya know, exposure == vulnerability!" jive just won't
work. Look at The Linux presence on the web, for
instance. IIS is less exposed than Apache, yet has had
so many many more exploits that many sites have pulled
it off the web as being too insecure. Even Gartner(!)
recommended discontinuance of use of IIS. Two major
providers - representing >2% of the webserver
population - recently replaced Win+IIS with
Linux+Apache, for instance.

But your favorite thingie is "desktop," right? Fine. Name
me ONE virus that has been of any significant threat to
the Macintosh desktop in oh, say, the last two years.

I won't hold my breath.

INSECURITY and vulnerabilities stem as much from
BAD architecture and BAD CODE as much as anything.
And you know it.

Cheers.
