They haven't gotten it right before
Just go with Linux or Unix and forget them. Even their other imbedded OS's and Windows CE there are problems. What excuses do they have for these? It's not a backward compatibility issue with these ones. Best they stick with what they can handle, video games and Office. Leave the OS's to real programmers.
