Trojan viruses can not really be called viruses.......
They do exactly what the programmer intended for them to do. The problem is that the end user performs an action to start the program. The programmer happened to code it in such a way that it would only run correctly on a Win2000 or up machine, if it had been coded to install to a folder other than Windir and was opened on a computer running Linux it would present the same danger as the user would have to choose to open and run the program.
