Now while you are at it
Go gather some numbers about the number of actual instances of the above things actually happening or the $$ amount of damage caused by the above. It is only possible to underestimate the $$ amount of damage done via Internet Explorer.

"two common security issues with the tabbed browsing feature found in several flavors of the Mozilla Foundation's browsers, the Opera browser, the Konqueror browser for Linux"

So how many people got nailed by this? I think I'll take my chances with Mozilla rather than something that toast your machine by rendering a JPEG.

"A series of recently announced security flaws open Linux and related technologies to attacks ranging from denials of service and local exploits to the potential for remote system compromise. "

Again, any reported instances? What are the $$ amounts of damage?

"Red Hat has warned users of an e-mail scam designed to plant malicious code on users' systems."

This is more social engineering. I'll bet more damage has been done through Citibank verifications. The average Windows users are considerably more gullible than Red Hat users.

"The malware, which has been dubbed Opener by Mac user groups, has the potential to disable Mac OS X's built-in firewall, steal personal information or destroy data."

Again, any reported instances? What are the $$ amounts of damage?

""The existence of Unix shells--such as Bash, for which this virus is written--and the presence of powerful networking commands...blah, blah, blah...

Any instances? A portable virus would most likely be written in C, AND the writer would have to do some social engineering to get it on a system with root access AND THEN get it to spread. Quite a task, much more so than feeding IE a malformed URL or an ActiveX control written in VB.

Go back to your theoretical drawing board and try again.
