Why hack home users
If hacking has become professional and someone is paying the hackers then why are so many viruses still directed towards home users. The purpose seems self defeating. Home users are now committed to paying upwards of $50 per year just to remain safe which has turned the anti virus and firewall companies into multi billion dollar organisations. Users also need constant updates and upgrades from Microsoft just to remain safe.

The hackers instead of hurting software suppliers such as Symantec McAfee and Microsoft etc have helped them grow. Large companies remain mostly safe as the majority of hacks aren't good enough to break through corporate networks. The people who still get hurt are the home user and the small companies without an IT department who don't pay their money for what might be called ?the anti virus protection racket?.

If the hacker is now becoming a paid professional its perhaps worth asking who benefits most from the hackers activities and who benefits most from not finding a more effective way of stopping them.
