Yes, the winter solstice and the tree worship are 2 of the rituals of the pagan holiday that have been intermingled with Christmas.
Maybe our understanding lies in the definition of evil and gods and such. To me, evil is everything that is contradictory to God, the one true God. God is the creator of everything, he is omnipotent. God makes it possible for everyone to be with him in heaven. Evil is the embodiment of satan, whose purpose is to deceive everyone he can and lead them away from God. Satan wants to drag as many down with him as possible to hell.
As for halloween, it just happens to be celebrated on the satanist's most holy holiday "all hallows eve". It also just so happens that lot of the rituals involved are the same types of things the satanists practice in their worship. The idea that you would pretend to be evil to ward off evil is kind of silly unless you believe that there really are "evil spirits" in which case you would know that evil is wrong, and it is wrong to even pretend to be evil.
Now we can dress it up and change the costumes to something with less of a perception of evil, like instead of a devil costume, she wears a princess costume and then proceeds to practice the same rituals. Still puzzling to me how people are so dead set on celebrating on a satanic holiday, that they refuse to wonder why we can't have a celebration on the next day which is.....(betcha don't know).
There seems at least to me that there is NOTHING to do with a faith in Halloween, nor a god. No prayers, no god or gods, no doctrine or beliefs being preached or sold...it seems well secular to me.
Just look at the date it is celebrated on, and the similarities to "all hallows eve", the god is satan, and the message (you call it preaching) is that it's ok for kids to play around with evil. And the doctrine you say? Find out for yourself what kind of rituals that the satanists perform on their sacred holiday, they are too disgusting to say here. But let's take the edge off of evil with a cute little deception for our kids, shall we?
You gotta understand that the devil is very smart, in a deceitful way, and he's been using the same lies since the garden of eden. Which is easier, to come out and be openly evil or do it subtlely?
Now you go back to christmas. My understanding is also that the holiday for the worship of trees by the druids and others have been combined with the celebration of Christmas. It was done by some genious authority(sarcasm), way back when, to calm the unrest among christians and druids/pagans/others who worshipped trees out in the woods. The tree people took their trees indoors and practiced their "decorating" rituals, and the date of celebrating Christmas was moved and it seemed to be accepted more and more over time as a part of Christmas as people became more wishy-washy about their faith and beliefs.
I do not put up a tree at christmas. I don't get all stressed out and feel like I have to go into debt to get everyone a present. I make sure to point out to my kids and others why WE are celebrating and that the gift giving comes from the heart and not from some sense of obligation. We celebrate the birth of our savior Jesus, knowing that we don't know the real date doesn't change the reason.
Just like changing the costume doesn't change the reason for all hallows eve.
To me its an "All or NOTHING" type deal. You
open pandora's box (hee hee hee) and it all comes with it. If you and yours are willing to allow that...then so am I.
Yes even Pagan Gods....nobody gets left ouy.
Unfortunately you are right, and I would prefer "nothing" evil. Others suggest we shouldn't offend ANYONE, and allow "all" evil or other faith except of course christians. Again, Christianity seems to be the one thing that offends all of the other groups, yet Christians can't be offended? We must be tolerant but noone else should?
Think about yourself, what faith or group have you talked about that offends you most? Honest now.
The message stays the same even though the times may change. I believe I know what that message is and would like anyone to give it a listen. - Posted by: Spoon Jabber Posted on: 10/31/04 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
