flip-flops
kerry has flip-flopped on lots of things. so has bush. its just the 'way of the politician.'

no need to rehash them all, for either side. it happens, get over it.

my two cents:
kerry has a lot of interesting things to say and talks a good game. unfortunately, to my way of looking at it, the things he is promising to do are in no way similar to the things he has actually done for the past 20-30 years. this worries me far more than him changing his mind on a couple of recent issues. i dont see this as him flip-flopping (his past record verses his current promises); i see it as him saying what people want to hear in order to get elected, and then continuing on with his previous agenda.

the problem is, all politicians do this. what a sorry choice!

bush is also talking about things he will do differently in another term; assuming nothing changes, we will get 4 more years similar to the past 4. assuming kerry doesnt actually change, we will get at least 4 years like his past 20-30. of course, this does all assume things happen in a vacuum, which in politics they never do; there are an awful lot of people and events that will shape what either of them end up doing. still, it is useful to look at to garner their sense of direction.

so, the real question is, assuming no one will really change and its all just political fluff, which is worse? four years of the *real* bush or four years of the *real* kerry?

yikes.
