In AOL's defense
I know they are not the absolute "paragon" of intelligent internet users, but AOL has really changed in the past year or so, and unlike most ISP's they actually care about helping their members. Case in point, several relatives of mine use AOL over broadband for theri internet services, and on a few occasions, their PC's have gotten hit with infections (as a result of them turning off the AV programs I installed for them, because it "slowed down their computer a little", but anyways, they got infected, and AOL actually prevented them from being able to connect to their systems until the virus was removed, and their techs (I know they aren't the best techs) actually walked through removing the problem infection, and in one case, even used a WebEX type app, so that the tech could remove the problem directly, as the relative had no clue what was going on.

I know AOL doesn't have the most computer literate users, but they are at least "attempting" to do something to help curb the problem. I think the real problem with infection lies with the customers of cable-based broadband networks, such as Comcast, Cox, TW(RoadRunner), etc, that will regulate actual bandwidth usage so that they make sure to charge you if you go over, but could care less how many viruses, or spam emails a given machine on their network is propogating.
