I can't see it.

As I see it, you (seosamh) reacted to a statement he didn't make.

Other than that, you are both right. Most people don't care about what happens to their computer, and they have no idea about anything beyond their Windows XP + various pre-installed Dell (OEM) software.

Why should they care?

In the wild - these people would be considered prey, to a lesser group of predators. And I'm not talking Gazelle-like prey, which can escape with angelic fast movements...
This would be the equivalence of a defenseless, slow prey - like a toothless pig with no legs, or something.

This scenario is apparent every day. Spyware, spam relays/zombies, etc. The predators are out there, as long as there's prey.

The Internet was so much more fun, before everybody and their aunt "came online" - I.E. "the prey". sad

Just thinking out loud here. :-P
