No only if an administrator, not a user, is gullible enough!

Then RedHat, if faced with these types of users, can use the
myriad of security features in *nix to provide a workable
desktop whilst ensuring security.

I agree, so what do you do? Perhaps run the user in a
restricted environment (*nix yes, windows no)? Disable the
ability of a user to execute code (*nix yes, windows no)?
Run each user in a seperate VM (*nix yes, windows no)?

MS windows is the way it is because it can't do it any better.
*nix doesn't have this baggage!

The popularity argument ignores completely that windows
security is extremely poorer than the alternatives.
