The graph in the insert is very misleding. It lists "Redhat" and "Suse", vs "Windows 2003". Note that is only the windows products that they specify the version number!!

It then askes wheather a business is planning to increase its use of each system. This is an extremely misleding approach, to the point of being biased. Whoever did the study must surely be smart enough to see the faulty logic in the analysis.

Here is why:
Consier a company that is running one copy of Redhat-8.0, one copy of Suse-8.2 and one copy of windows 2000 sever. If that company is planning upgrade all those systems: ie to Radhat-9.0, Suse-9.0, and windows-2003 then according to the analysis they have done- There will be no change in the amount of Radhat or Suse used. However it will look like the are planning to use more windows since the amount of windows-2003 will be increasing.

A company or news site that presents there analysis, as ZDnet has done here, is either very stupid or deliberately trying to misled readers. More shoddy reporting by ZDnet.
