Because Trusted Computing is untrustworthy.
Who is "Trusted Computing" really trying to protect? You, the computer owner, or Microsoft, the RIAA, and every other big proponent of Digital Rights Management at the expense of the owner?

True, theoretically "Trusted Computing" *could* be used to encrypt your data, protect your e-mail, or restrict access to certain areas of your hard drive for your benefit. But no one is really buying that propaganda. Its the carrot-and-stick, but everyone recognizes that the stick is 10000 times worse than the carrot.

Actually, "Trusted Computing" is designed to stop the owner from doing things that some third party has deemed "untrustworthy". You, as the owner, actually LOSE control over your own machine, your own property.
