Funny how you view one of Linux's greatest strengths as a weakness. Every time a new Mandrake Distro comes out I buy it and install it. It is my chosen distro. I have also run Elx, Icepack, SOT, Suse, OpenLinux, Onebase, Debian, Vector, Libranet and a couple of others whose names currently escape me. Within days of their release, the updates start coming, and tend to continue to come for the life of the distro, but in very sharply decreasing numbers after the initial flurry. The community of Linux users are quick to discover flaws and the maintainers are very quick to respond.Flaws found, bulletins and patches issued. No problems. Now lets talk about when I installed Fedora Core 2 the other day and had over 160 updates to download... (yes its the rare time I did install linux) I have seen flaws fixed and an update made available within hours of discovery. Hours. Not months, or weeks, or days. Hours. Are you currently using Fedora? Have you USED any desktop distro? What I am trying to ask you is how much working experience do you have with Linux on the desktop? Install once and run becaure you decide you don't like the update cycle is hardly a basis for rational discussion.
