Explain Please
1. How is this a hacker's dream? What port is open? When you send mail now, you make the outbound request to connect to an SMTP server. Unless your e-mail provider is stupid, you have to authenticate to do this.

Under this proposed solution, the intended recipient must request the mail. There is an authentication process associated with receiving mail through a POP server now.

2. How does this adversely affect CRM users? Setup your rules to accept mail from your CRM server. Why does this require anyone to buy more heavy iron hardware? I suggest that the total disk space alloted to storing e-mail would decline exponentially.

If a spammer, sends 10 million messages, there are 10 million messages stored somewhere as well as all of the bandwidth that is used to deliver the messages. With the proposed system, the spammer would have to store the message (it would still be just one message), but the would have to store the 10 million addresses on HIS server, not on POP3 servers all over the world. My mailbox only has in it what I want in it.

The servers supporting a CRM application would only have to deal with THEIR employees's messages, not junk that have nothing to do with their business.

3. Anyone who wanted to use POP3 servers could continue to do so. The author states this in the article. The entire Internet world does not have to agree to use this system.
