Ax has a point
Twice in one day I agree with Ax, ouch!!

Spam email is for the most part free. Mailing junk mail has postage costs and costs for the printed material. That alone slows down the number of snail mail junk spammers. A "cheap" snail mail junk mail piece would cost about 15 cents to 20 cents per item mailed, including the printing and postage.

Also, junk mail does not have computer viruses and trojans to infect computer systems. My apartment complex has a large trashcan for junk mail that is daily emptied and sent for recycling. Yep, let's keep the U.S. Postal carriers working.

Electronic spam and junk mail is simply too easy and too cheap. The spoofing of an identity might fall under identity theft in many states and that would be an interesting prosecution.
