This isn't some philosophical discussion between two impartial people, it's an arranged colouration of the topic by two Microsoft Evangelists.
(heck could be one person behind those two user ids).
Microsoft, as IBM once did, NEVER STOPS trying to control IT by proprietary standards.
NoAx fails to mention the bulk of webservers are free software based, and so most Internet Infrastructure would not work with Microsoft's controlled IP standard (without the complexity of licensing issues).
Is the idea that good? No. If it was, people would bite the bullet.
Microsoft could try removing the exploits from Outlook and Outlook Express by preventing execution of any ActiveX stuff. But no. There is no profit in making good software.
