RE: roundand round
I wouldn?t exactly call it ?laziness? if you want to slam them correctly, I would call them ignorant. The end user doesn?t know, how or why their box works. Nor do they care?all they want is it to work. This would be my guess, as to why MS is so prevalent. Its user (ignorance?) friendly.

I am assuming you know a windows machine in an unprivileged state cant update the antivirus. So of course they will get a virus. They also cant do a disk cleanup, a defrag, or a windows update. So of course their box is going to be slow and tedious to work with. System changes require administrative privileges. And if you don?t have it you cant fix it.

So the next time you ?repair ?someone?s machine you should try and set it up right. Give them admin priv. Hide the places they don?t need to be. Make sure they have an antivirus program of some kind and show them how to use it. Convince them to get a firewall and show them how to use it. And show them how to do basic system maintenance.
The next time they call (and they will call) it will be worth more to you.

Unless your in it for the hourly $$ then just keep them in the dark and milk them till they bleed, but do the rest of us a favor and keep them off the net so we don?t get a NTD (Netually Contracted Disese).
