round and round
ive noticed people go round and round about all this linux vs windows and chevy vs ford. personally, i enjoy the command line interface, but i do enjoy a good game now and then, so for the command line/security/etc satisfaction, i use linux. i had a windows iis box (fully patched to current at the time) that got hacked within a week so i moved my servers to a box i built for that with linux. for the game experience i have a windows box to use.

but still the issue remains. laziness. people have full control over a system with root / user separation, but most people are to lazy to log out and back in to make a change. i have done system repairs on computers that were run as a unpriveledged user that still got a nasty virus that affected the main system. i also know people who run their linux boxes using root as their primary login. laziness. i have to admit, tho, i dont care about my windows box as much so i run it as a user with administrator privs, but for my linux box, i use su. and i drive a pontiac.
