I do, and so do you.
That you aren't doing anything illegal is NOT the point, and you very well know it. The point is, I should not have to prove that I'm doing nothing illegal. This "guilty until proven innocent" crap isn't what the USA was founded on. Unless the authorities can demonstrate a reason that I, specifically, am a danger and should be investigated, they should leave me the hell alone. Frankly, I don't trust them enough to not abuse the power and information access, especially given who is in charge of Homeland Security. Hey, Ridge was governor of my state long before he was on the cabinet, and I was less than impressed by him even then.

For crying out loud, the government is right now holding people on suspicion (that's right, suspicion, not proof) of connections to terrorism, denying them access to attornies and the courts. These are not people who have been found guilty of anything, they haven't even been indicted or charged with anything. Even suspected murderers and rapists get a chance to talk to a judge in our system, these people deserve the same. These people are being given no opportunity to even try to show their innocence, and the government is showing no inclination to prove their guilt. This is abuse of power, pure and simple, and if this is an example of how the authorities are going to use increased powers, I don't want them to have any more.

Yes, the cowardly bastards killed thousands of innocent civilians. Yes, cowardly bastards like that continue to kill thousands of innocent people every year. But they didn't betray the foundations of what the United States of America was built on, that took the USA's own government.
