terrorism is not just about 9/11?
So what was the justification for attacking Iraq? Was it the large quantities of WMD that they possessed? Was it all the nuclear material that Iraq bought for use in its bomb program? Or was it just about lying by the Bush Administration which -- as has been now reported -- wanted to attack Iraq immediately after 9/11? The one thing that is clear is that the public has not been told the whole story -- or anything close to it by either the government or the media -- about either 9/11, Iraq or the reasons why so many people outside of America hate us. The truth is that America -- regardless of how poor and misunderstand we think we are -- dominates the rest of the world through our military and economic power. While we spend our days patting ourselves on the back about how good and righteous we are, other peoples see elected governments overthrown by the CIA, natural resources looted by multinational corporations, support for any dictator who's willing to salute and buy weapons (Saddam Hussein was one of them) and now a policy of "pre-emptive war." Cast over all of this is a thick veneer of arrogance that says we are Americans and we're entitled to do whatever we want, where ever we want, to whomever we want. Bush says the terrorists are evil and must be eliminated -- end of thinking. Thinking is un-American these days because it might lead you to ask why these people hate us so much. Surely it's not because they view us as something so vile and threatening to their way of life that terrorism is justified. The rulers of the Roman Empire probably didn't understand why the people they dominated didn't love them either.
