emotion is never objective

It would be irresponsible to interpret an academic work without knowledge of the culture from which it evolved and the background of the individuals who wrote it. Don't assume that everyone who disagrees with you is an idiot who didn't do his homework. This forum is no place for a dissertation so, sure, I "dumbed it down" just for you. Show me 100 people who witnessed the same set of events and I'll show you 100 different explanations. Things aren't so black and white.

9/11 was an event that brought public attention to an issue that was largely ignored by Americans who had been heretofor untouched by terrorism. Our politicians were supported by the public when our response was against terrorism as a whole and those organizations which support and/or actively participate in terrorsism - such as El Qaeda. Yes the government may have stretched their theories to satisfy the constituents. However, most of us just didn't care if Osama ordered 9/11 because we'd already been hoping that he and his Taliban allies would meet Allah sooner rather than later. We expect our government to lie when necessary and kill when necessary to protect American interests. While I can admire your passion and your sense of Justice, the world just doesn't work that way.
