terrorism is not just about 9/11

While 9/11 was the motivator, the need to fight terrorism reached beyond that single event. The policies aren't just about 9/11. The tragic events on 9/11 brought to the public eye a problem that was far more threatening and far more dangerous than a few dozen men hijacking some airplanes.

I believe it was a clearly stated and reasonable goal of the administration to attack organizations and governments that support and train terrorists. If they give money to and train people to go out into the world and wreak havoc and also give them a place to hide and sleep while they are doing it, they are just as guilty as as the terrorist that actually committed the act (who, for the case of 9/11, are dead since it was a suicide mission).

You could spend weeks killing all of the ants but it would be much more effective to destroy their nest and take out the queen. Few doubt that the Taliban were a legitimate target which was a direct result of 9/11. However, in case you've missed it, 9/11 and terrorism was not the justification for attacking Iraq. So, you are mistakingly confusing the issues. Iraq is a whole different story.
