No, of course not.
There are plenty of stupid users on other platforms as well, and they usually end up screwing their systems over as well. Stupidity, like Life, always finds a way.

Windows is not inconvenient, if you just use a little common sense. Prior to the influx of spyware, you really didn't even need much common sense to use it.

To answer your question about how many "logged-in" systems have been hosed, none on my watch. But security isn't about did it happen. My current company hasn't had a single virus or spyware infestation in the 3 years that I have been running the show. We have 3 tiered-antivirus system, as well as a web proxy to take care of all of it. We've also never had our system hacked, thanks to the firewalls and sentry products that we use. All of that really proves nothing though, as just because it hasn't happened, doesn't mean it isn't a security threat. By your suggestion, since we've never been hacked or had a virus, we would be fine to get rid of our security systems.

Security can't be "reactive" and be effective, it must be pro-active. You also have to put things into perspective. A client's workstation that gets hosed because they were stupid and didn't head their last consultant's advice to install an AV product, is not as costly to the company as the effects of having a disgruntled employee come and trash one of their servers because their idiot administrator left the server logged in, unattended (and probably "forgets" to do regular backups too).
