If you're already patched up to SP2, it's pretty useless
Wow, so SP2 is largely a roll-up patch for their flaws up to that point. But if I've already installed the other patches, what will SP2 give me other than some half-baked stupid firewall? I don't need all my RPC functionality lobotomized just because M$ didn't bother to get it half right the first time. SP2 is just an attempt to erect a moat and draw bridge to "protect" the paper XP castle. Going to winupdate just tells me that I "need" to install SP2. If that's all that's "necessary" then I'm good. Better than good in fact: for I won't have to deal with some unforseen headache itching to bite me in the ass.
BTW, in terms of opinion, people don't need to back up their claim. If I think George Bush sucks and America is headed for disaster, I don't need a link to back this up. That's simply how I feel. I feel SP2 is unnecesary if you know what you're doing. You feel it's "required". Neither of us are wrong..or necessarily right. Just approaching things differently. And I won't finish my post with
