Best prank virus I know of
was back in the DOS days, called "Typo." The one you describe is nothing in comparison.

This one would install itself into the keyboard interrupt, and watch the time-of-day clock. It would set a percentage thresshold that would start out at a very low value (like around 1%), but then slowly increase through the normal workday, peaking close to 5:00 at around 25% (they weren't really percentages, but I'm simplifying here).

For every keystroke you pressed, it would generate a random number from 0 to 100%. If that number was less than the current thresshold percentage, the keystroke you just typed would be intercepted and replaced with the keystroke that was immediately to the left or right on the keyboard, in the same row (again chosen randomly).

Effect: as the day wore on, "you'd" start making more and more seeming typos, and think it was just you getting more and more tired.
